Previously, I put up a computer graphics piece that I made by using a software called Flash to convert a photograph into a "vector image," which is a type of image that uses flat color fields instead of gradations of coloring and shading. This time I tried making that same conversion into a vector image with a line drawing I made with a brush. Converting that drawing into a vector image did not change the line quality all that much, but the method of depiction used for vector images did provide the benefit of not losing any of the crispness in the lines at all in both the computer screen display and the printed version when you enlarge the drawing on the computer after the conversion.

A5 用紙で描いた小さいイラストを鮮明さが失われていない状態で A3 の紙に印刷できたというのは初めてでしたが、そんなさらっと描いた落書きのような小さいものがポスターの大きさで綺麗に印刷できて、「美術の作品」というレベルまでいけるとは思いませんでした。

This was the first time that I was able to take a little drawing that I made on an A5 sized piece of paper and print it at A3 size without losing any of the crispness. I never thought that you could take a small doodle-like drawing drawn so casually, print it out at poster size without any quality loss at all, and present it on the level of a "piece of art."

今は他のお仕事で忙しくなって、このような「小さいイラストを拡大する実験」に取り込む時間がありませんが、かなり面白い制作方法ですので、私が二度と挑戦しなくてもだれかがどこかでやってもらいたいものです。

I'm kind of busy with other work right now, so I don't have time to follow up on this kind of experimental "expansion of a small drawing" thing. But it was a really cool method of creating art, so even if I never do it again, I think it would be really great if someone out there chose to develop it.

Incidentally, the English text on the left side is a poem a friend of mine wrote. In rap music, there is an expression that goes, "keep it on the real," which of course means, "be true to yourself." Focusing on that expression, he wrote this poem in kind of a playful parody style. All of the phrases in the poem are either other ways of saying "keep it on the real" or phrases inspired by "keep it on the real" and its derivatives. Sometimes he includes purposeful grammatical mistakes and creates new words by altering the spelling.

以下に日本語へと翻訳してみましたが、ニュアンスを伝えるのには説明が必要だと判断した箇所には括弧の中に追加的に解説を入れました。英語の言葉遊びの例として、楽しく読みましょう。

I translated into Japanese below. For places that I felt needed explanations in in order to express the original nuance, I included explanations in parentheses. I hope you enjoy it as an example of playing with words in English.

Keep it on the real.
自分らしくしなさい。

You have kept it real.
あなたは自分らしくしてきている。

Keep it on the reel.
リールに保管しなさい。
(または、「リールから落ちないように置いておきなさい。」)

Real you have kept it.
自分らしくしてきている、あなたは。
( 言葉の順番は普通と違いますが、文法的に全く問題がない範囲です。)

I have been real keeping it
私は、保管するのに、自分らしくしてきた。

Keep it on the low
秘密にしておきなさい。

Really, I kept it.
本当に、保管したんだ。

I keep it real.
私は自分らしくしているぞ。

I keep real things
本物を保管している。
(ここでは「 real 」という言葉が「本物」という、「 real 」のもともとの意味になります。)

I real keep.
保管しているよ、本物を、私は
(意味が不明な言葉の並び方ですが、どちらかといいますと「私は本物を保管している」という意味をする文の中の言葉の順番を変えたような印象を与える文です。)

It keeps really well.
そのものはとても長く保存できる。

It kept real.
そのものは自分らしくしてこれた。
(「もの」が生きていないので、「自分らしく」できないのですが、言葉遊びですね)

I keep it fake.
偽物にしておいている。
(「 fake 」は「 real 」の反対語ですので、「 I keep it real 」に対して「 I keep it fake 」にしているわけです。ですので、「自分らしくしていない」や「自分を見失った)という意味合いも持っています」

I'm keeping it roll.
ロールパンらしくしている
(「 real 」の代わりに「 roll 」を置換えたようですので、ほぼ意味不明ですが)

I keep it on the rail.
私はレールの上に保管している。
(「 on the real 」が「 on the rail 」になったわけです。物理的に考えますと、日本語にしますと「レールの上に」という意味になりますが、元々の英語で変わったのは「 real 」という目的語だけですね。この「 rail 」は鉄道のことを指しているのか、道路の横に立つ「レール」のことを示しているのかは不明ですが、ここではもともとの英語と音的に近い「レール」にすることにしました。)

Keep it rill, homie.
お前も自分らしくしなさい。
(「 homie 」(もともとの綴りは「 hommie 」ですが)はヒップホップ文化で相手をさすスラングです。相手のことを良く思う時も悪く思う時も利用され、ポジティブな意味でもネガティブな意味でも、両方持っています。ここの「 rill 」は「 real 」の発音を変えているだけで、意味が変わりません。)

Really kept.
本当に保管されたんだ。
(但し、主語がありませんので、とてもあいまいです。)

Keeped it real.
自分らしくしてきたぜ。
(わざと文法的に正しくない英語が使われているようです。本来は「 Kept it real. 」になります。)
